There are so many events to attend in the Keys that sometimes it’s hard to choose. Yesterday was the Annual Duval Street Drag Race. This crazy event is part of the 34th Anniversary of the Conch Republic. In case you don’t remember this is when the Keys seceded from the Union in response to the US Border Patrol blockade of the Florida Keys. There was also the Earth Day Celebration at Bahia Honda State Park. We decided to attend the later.
Tonight we attended the musical Chicago presented by the Marathon High School Drama Department. WOW, what a performance!
We celebrated earth day by participating in the Toms Harbour Cut beach clean up sponsored by the Dolphin Research Center on Grassy Key.
We took a dinghy ride with 5 other couples (in their dinghies) to tour Marathon’s famous Boot Key Harbour. Then we went to The Keys Fisheries bayside to get fresh Stone Crab right off the boat! Awesome happy hour!
We attended the Florida Keys MTOA happy hour and covered dish dinner. Gotta love our MTOA friends…….they really love to eat, drink and party!
Yesterday we visited Boot Key Harbor in our dinghy. It was interesting to see the rows of moored boats, the floating restaurant and the crowded dinghy docks.
Today we attended the National Key Deer Refuge Kayak Tour of the back country islands of Upper Summerland Key. The 3 hour tour covered about 4 miles of pristine mangrove islands. About 24 kayakers enjoyed the beautiful weather, calm waters and amazing wildlife.
Last night we had an amazing corned beef and cabbage dinner with our friends at Harbour Cay Club. After dinner gifts were given out for the shuffleboard tournament winners and all participants.
Krogen Cruisers meet for breakfast every Wednesday a Sunset Grill in Marathon. What a wonderful group of Kadey Krogen owners and alumni!!!
